Stalker Bom ba Ye

DVD cover for Stalker Bom ba Ye.

Stalker Bom ba Ye was an independent Dragon System event. It took place on November 12, 2006 at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. It was promoted as an event put together primarily by "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa and featured a mix of Dragon Gate and outside talent. It was teased as potentially being Stalker's last show as an active wrestler.

Background[]

On September 26, 2006, the Stalker Bom ba Ye was announced. Stalker noted that he would be competing in the main event in a match where the loser must retire. His wife Namiko would make an appearance on the show, starting the tease that Stalker would be losing the match.

During a promotional event, Stalker got into a verbal confrontation with Akira Tozawa, with whom he had been having issues with over the last several months. Tozawa agreed to be Stalker's opponent and they would later decide upon having a Best 2/3 Series with each match being different from one another.

Jack Evans was initially participating on the show when it was first announced. However, he was removed before the final card was made.

Event[]

All three of the Stalker Ichikawa vs. Akira Tozawa matches were officiated by Kenichiro Arai.

Aftermath[]

Dragon Gate would release a DVD of the event featuring commentary from CIMA and Don Fujii. The DVD was set to region 0, allowing for it to be played anywhere.

Stalker would seal the "Stalker Ichikawa" name and returned the following week as Stalker Ichikawa Z. He would change his name again following his first United States tour to "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa, which has since remained permanent.

Several months after the event Stalker and Namiko would unfortunately end their marriage in divorce.

Stalker would promote a second Bom ba Ye show a year later.

The Stalker Bom ba Ye would serve as the inspiration for Masaaki Mochizuki to start his Buyuden series of shows, where Dragon Gate talent and outside wrestler compete in a global showcase.
